# EU HTA scoping phase

Hello everyone, how many PICOS do you think will be required for each JCA, after consolidating the PICOs collected from the EU27 countries?

Hi Zack! Ideally, each assessment will be based on 1 to 3 PICOs, with a maximum of 5 PICOs per assessment post-consolidation of those gathered from EU27 member states as per EUnetHTA 21 predictions.

Hello both, many case studies proved that the number of PICOS required per JCA will largely exceed EUnetHTA 21 estimations. For example, PICO simulation conducted by Evidera for EFPIA for a product used in the 1st line treatment of a haematological tumour resulted in 23 PICOs after consolidation (Source: efpia-evidera-research-on-eunethta21-methods.pdf).
