UK cost sources

Hi!
I have recently came across a modeling challenge in the UK setting. Could you please recommend any reliable sources of cost information?

Hi George,
When it comes to UK, there is no better source than official websites of NICE and NHS.

You didn’t specify the details of your challenge, but here are 2 ideas where you can begin

  1. National Cost Collection Data ( NHS England » 2021/22 National Cost Collection Data Publication). If you don’t know where to start, try here. “The National Cost Collection publication comprises aggregated costs (the average unit cost of providing defined services to NHS patients in England) and patient-level costs/PLICS (a cost based on the specific interactions a patient has, and the events related to their healthcare activity).”
  2. National Tariff (replaced by NHS Payment Scheme from 1 April 2023). “National Tariff Workbook is a large workbook with prices for admitted patient care, outpatient procedures, day case, ordinary elective, unbundled and non-elective best prices tariffs.” NHS England » National tariff payment system documents, annexes and supporting documents

I hope this helps. Good luck with your modeling challenge!

Hi Grace!
Thank for your help.
I’d would also ask if you know any sources of cost of blood and components?

Dear George,

NHS has a specific price list for that, you can find it here: price_list_bc_nhs_contract_cost-per-item_2023-24.pdf (nhsbtdbe.blob.core.windows.net)

I think it should help.
